Revenge / Reconciliation

Revenge / Reconciliation

Raziuddin Aquil

Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya has advised that if there is a difficulty in a relation between two persons with situation deteriorating from unpleasantness to hostility, it is advisable that one of them cleansed her/his mind and heart of any ill-feeling or sense of revenge. Positive vibes thus created, even if unsaid or unheard, can affect the heart of the other person and feelings of vendetta or retaliation can be transformed into forgiveness and reconciliation or at least tolerance.

In this context, Hazrat Nizamuddin also mentioned that when darweshes fought, they did it with such grace that people wondered how beautiful it would be to see them in love!

Sufi practices and tales such as these can help in resolution of disagreements and clashes at all levels, whether private or personal, differences within families, or community relations in our conflict-ridden times which are creating widespread anxieties.
